Twenty new vans for Wellocks national fleet
Wellocks has invested £800,000 to add 20 new Mercedes Sprinter vans to our fleet to improve delivery services and add new routes. The new vans – branded with our distinctive tree logo – bring the total fleet size to 126, all supplied by Mercedes Benz.
James Wellock, managing director, Wellocks said, “It was a shock to be negotiating for 20 vans as it only seems like yesterday when we bought them one at a time and every one was a big deal!”
The new Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis cabs have bespoke refrigerated bodies – streamlined for efficiency to fit Wellocks’ environmentally friendly and hygienic green crate delivery system and achieve an extra 200kg payload. Van floors are non-slip and specially coated to make daily cleaning easy and effective. All vans are equipped with high-tech cameras and TomTom tracking systems to monitor driving standards, fuel efficiency and safety.
The new vans mean Wellocks can better serve current customers with more efficient delivery schedules using smaller vehicles for less intrusive services and meet increasing demand for new routes from potential customers.
Wellocks’ network stretches from Caithness in the Scottish Highlands to Devon supported by distribution hubs in Aylesbury, Tewkesbury and Glasgow and served by our Lancashire HQ and depot. In a unique service, after delivering to customers vehicles collect harvested produce from suppliers – ensuring a 24-hour turnaround of produce from field to kitchen. We deliver tonnes of premium fresh, dairy, dry and prepared produce daily to over 1,200 of the top restaurant, pub and hotel kitchens.
For some extra kerb appeal, the new vans all feature glow-in-the-dark logos. You just can’t miss them!
