Northumberland Cheese Co have launched the cheese this year, the first new cheese in six years.
The Northumberland Cheese company has been making farmhouse cheese by hand since 1984 in the heart of Northumberland. Initially, the cheese was made from ewe’s milk but quickly expanded to cow’s and goat’s milk cheese.
The Northumberlandia Cheese is a cow’s milk cheese with a sharp acidic taste and a crumbly texture. The cheese is sealed in black wax as a nod to the coal mining industry of the region.
This cheese is best paired with oat crackers, sweet chutneys and cold bitters.
