Minus 8 Visit


When Brad came to visit from Canada, we were excited to taste and sample Minus 8 vinegar, but also find out the story behind how it all began almost 20 years ago.

Minus 8 was born at family-owned vineyard in Niagara, Canada. Brad believed he could produce a vinegar which was much more flavoursome than any other on the market. The name Minus 8, was a brainchild from Brad’s partner and now wife Rachel – minus eight degrees is the temperature at which the grapes are harvested.
Brad explained that tasting vinegar is essential in the selection, it really is a case of ‘tasting is believing’.

When tasting the vinegars, it was soon apparent that specific ‘taste’ was exceptional. As the story behind each addition in the Minus 8 collection was retold by the man who had not only dreamt up this fascinating business, crafted, worked and built his own brand, but the man who still harvests his own crop, and is very closely involved in the process of producing and pressing the grapes.

Brad explained how Minus 8 has grown and has become such a sought after vinegar all over the world, first arriving in the UK in 2002. Learning the story, understanding the facts and most specifically the product is ultimately the way to truly appreciate Minus 8.
